QUINCY, Ill. – Parkside men's soccer team opened the 2025 season on Thursday afternoon at Legends Stadium, falling 5-0 on the road to Quincy University.
The Hawks struck early when Leo Cann put Quincy ahead in the 4th minute, finishing off a pass from Mathias Bringedal. Despite creating several chances in the first half—including shots from Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen and Keven Sosa—the Rangers went into the break trailing 1-0.
Quincy extended its lead in the second half with four goals in the final 25 minutes. Carlos Moreno Henao scored twice (66' and 88'), while Cann added his second of the match in the 82nd minute. Josh Nswosu capped the scoring in the 89th minute to secure the win for the Hawks.
Redshirt-Senior goalkeeper Daniyal Rana recorded five saves. Offensively, Parkside tallied 11 shots and earned three corner kicks, highlighted by efforts from Aguilera-Guillen (3 shots) and Sosa (4 shots, 1 on goal).
With the result, the Rangers fall to 0-1-0 on the year, while Quincy improves to 1-0-0.
Parkside continues its season-opening road swing on Sunday, Sept. 7, when the Rangers visit Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
