Rangers Push Past Pride for Best Start in Program History

KENOSHA, WIS. — The Parkside volleyball team made history Saturday afternoon, defeating Purdue Northwest 3–1 (25–23, 22–25, 25–16, 25–19) inside De Simone Arena to secure the best start in program history at 9-0 overall and 2-0 in GLIAC play.

The Rangers controlled the match offensively, hitting .191 as a team and outpacing the Pride in kills (55–42), digs (74–66), and service aces (10–7). Redshirt junior Ava Irvin powered the attack with a match-high 18 kills and 10 digs, recording her fourth double-double of the season. Sam Fisch added 13 kills while hitting .290, and Sierra Kilbourn tied her career high with 13 kills and contributed two blocks. Maia Olson was highly efficient, hitting .389 with seven kills while also leading the Rangers at the net with eight total blocks. Lucy Russ turned in her seventh double-double of the season, finishing with 41 assists, 13 digs, and four service aces. Libero Natalie Harris anchored the defense with a match-high 15 digs.

In the opening set, Parkside trailed 17–21 before mounting a late rally. The Rangers closed strong, fueled by key kills from Ava Irvin and Sam Fisch down the stretch to steal the frame 25–23. Russ kept the offense balanced, helping Parkside overcome the early deficit.

The second set swung the other way, as Purdue Northwest capitalized on Parkside errors and held the Rangers to just a .103 hitting percentage. Despite a late rally, the Pride edged out a 25–22 win to even the match at one set apiece.

Parkside responded in dominant fashion in the third, using a .257 hitting performance to seize control. Irvin led the way with five kills in the frame, while the Rangers' defense limited Purdue Northwest to a .088 hitting percentage in the set, cruising to a 25–16 victory.

The Rangers carried that momentum into the fourth, pulling away late to seal the match with a 25–19 win. Russ, Harris, and Rachel each collected six digs in the final frame to steady the back row, and Irvin capped the afternoon with the match-winning kill to lock down the historic victory.

With the win, Parkside improves to 16-1 all-time against Purdue Northwest. The Rangers will now hit the road, traveling to Michigan next weekend for matchups against Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech.
