KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside (0-3-2, 0-0-1) opened GLIAC play with a 1-1 draw against Michigan Tech (0-4-1, 0-0-1) on Friday afternoon at Wood Road Field. Emily Mikkelson put the Rangers in front just 18 seconds in, before the Huskies leveled off a corner kick late in the first half to split the points.
Mikkelson's early breakthrough was built on combination play down the left: Stephanie Salmeron and Ava Rizzitano provided the assists on the sequence that freed Mikkelson to finish for a 1-0 lead at 0:18. Michigan Tech answered in the 31st minute when Peyton Wetzel converted off a corner from Allison Millina at 30:33.
Parkside dominated the shot count, finishing with a 15-5 advantage overall and a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. The Rangers also forced six second-half saves out of Tech goalkeeper Ludesha Reynolds, who kept the game level with stops on Mikkelson, Carley Nolte, and Lindsay Dahlinger. Tristen Cross made one save for the Rangers while handling limited pressure on the other end.
The Rangers return to action on Sunday at noon when they host Northern Michigan back at Wood Road Field. For more information, visit parksiderangers.com/coverage.
