KENOSHA, Wis. — Following a perfect 4-0 weekend that pushed Parkside volleyball to its best start in NCAA program history, the Rangers have swept the GLIAC weekly honors.
Natalie Harris was named Defensive Player of the Week,
Ava Irvin was recognized as Offensive Player of the Week, and
Lucy Russ earned Setter of the Week.
Parkside improved to 7-0 on the season, marking its best start since joining the NCAA in 1995. The weekend was highlighted by career-best performances, balance across the lineup, and dominance on both sides of the ball.
Harris, the Rangers' libero, claimed her second straight Defensive Player of the Week honor after totaling 99 digs (5.82 per set) and four aces over the four matches. She set back-to-back career highs with 32 digs on Friday and 34 digs on Saturday in the win over Missouri S&T. Harris currently leads the GLIAC in digs and digs per set, and ranks eighth in all of Division II in digs per set.
Irvin, an outside hitter, powered the attack with 67 kills, reaching double figures in all four matches. She posted double-doubles against Winona State and Missouri S&T, while notching 20 kills in the win over Bemidji State. She also added two aces, 35 digs, and 15 total blocks on the weekend.
Russ, the Parkside setter, directed the Rangers' offense with 170 assists (10.0 per set), along with five aces and 43 digs. She notched three double-doubles on the weekend, including a career-high 55 assists against Missouri S&T. Russ leads the GLIAC in assists and ranks 15th in all of Division II with 290 on the season.
The Rangers return to action this week with their GLIAC opener when Roosevelt comes to De Simone Arena on Thursday night. Opening serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
