Parkside Falls to Wayne State in Regular Season Finale

DETROIT, Mich. — After a tight first five innings, Parkside couldn't keep pace with Wayne State's offensive outburst, falling 12-2 on Saturday afternoon at Harwell Field.

How it happened:
Parkside grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third when Dylan Sayles delivered a two-out, two-run single up the middle. But the advantage didn't last long. Wayne State answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run double from Jacoby Dale.

From there, the Warriors seized control. Wayne State added a go-ahead run in the fifth, then erupted for nine more runs over the next three innings, including a six-run seventh that broke the game open. Caleb Sanders starred at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs scored, and three RBIs. Dale and Reagan Paulina each drove in multiple runs, while Ty Garza reached base five times and stole two bases.

Parkside's bullpen struggled to keep the game within reach, allowing 10 earned runs across the final four innings. Seven different Rangers pitchers saw action, with starter Keegan Waters going 3.2 innings and taking a no-decision. Austin Drayna was tagged with the loss after surrendering the go-ahead run in the fifth.

Offensively, Parkside managed just six hits, with Peter Fusek leading the way with a 3-for-4 effort. Sayles had two hits and drove in both Parkside runs.
