4/30/2025 8:05:00 PM

ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Parkside Softball Team opens postseason play at the 2025 GLIAC Tournament on Thursday at 11:00 a.m., taking on fifth-seeded Wayne State at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex. The Rangers enter as the No. 4 seed, their highest tournament seeding since joining the conference.

Series History
Parkside and Wayne State are dead even in the all-time series at 27-27, but recent history heavily favors the Rangers. They've won six of the last seven matchups, including a 4-2 elimination game victory over the Warriors in last year's tournament, powered by a dramatic three-run seventh inning featuring clutch hits from Toni Rodriguez and Taylor Utrata.

Rangers to Watch
- Mia Johnson, the two-time GLIAC Player of the Year, leads the charge both offensively and defensively. She ranks seventh nationally in home runs and committed just four errors at third base all season.

- Haley Remington, a First Team All-GLIAC selection, is hitting .359 with 25 RBI's and has been a defensive standout with six outfield assists and 82 putouts in center field.

- Eden Welling, also a First Team selection, is second on the team with eight home runs and has scored 34 runs this season while anchoring the infield at shortstop.

- Additional All-GLIAC honorees include:

Stat Trends
- Parkside is 22-4 when tied or leading after four innings.
- They are 12-3 when leading after just two innings.
- The Rangers are 19-3 when scoring five or more runs.

Tournament Outlook
The GLIAC Tournament runs May 1–4 in Rosemont for the third consecutive year. A win over Wayne State could set up a second-round matchup with top-seeded Saginaw Valley State.
