Rangers Wrap Regular Season with Split Against Ferris State

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside softball team played their final regular season doubleheader against Ferris State on Sunday afternoon. The Rangers would earned the split against the regionally ranked Bulldogs, dropping game one 5-1, but bouncing back for an 11-2 run-rule victory in game two.

Game One
Ferris State jumped out to a quick lead, scoring three unearned runs in the first inning, capitalizing on a Parkside error and a pair of RBI singles. The Bulldogs extended their advantage in the third, tacking on two more runs after another Parkside defensive miscue.

Despite the early hole, Parkside continued to battle. The Rangers loaded the bases in the third but couldn't cash in as Ferris State turned a crucial double play to escape the jam. Offensively, Parkside recorded four hits, including a late spark from Eden Welling, who launched a solo home run to straightaway center in the bottom of the seventh to put the Rangers on the board.

Game Two
After a scoreless first inning, the Rangers' bats came alive in the second. Jadyn Polerecky delivered a two-run double to left center to put Parkside on top, 2-0. The Rangers kept the pressure on in the third, with Megan Medlin driving home a run on a double before Eden Welling launched her first of two home runs, a two-run shot to center, stretching the lead to 5-0.

Parkside blew the game wide open in the fourth, plating six runs on four hits and taking advantage of a Ferris State error. Haley Remington and Toni Rodriguez added RBI hits, and Rylee Baetz delivered a two-RBI single before Welling capped the outburst with her second home run of the game, a towering two-run blast to left center.

Welling finished with two home runs and four RBI, while Baetz, Medlin, and Polerecky each added multi-hit games for Parkside. Mia Johnson reached base twice with a pair of walks and a single, helping set the table for the offense.
