KENOSHA, Wis.– A six-run fourth inning powered Parkside to a 9-1 victory over Purdue Northwest in GLIAC softball action Friday afternoon at Case Softball Field. Game two of the day was postponed in the top of the second inning due to rain and lightning.
Parkside (22-19, 11-10 GLIAC) led 2-1 before breaking the game open in the bottom of the fourth. The Rangers capitalized on two Purdue Northwest errors and collected four hits, including a two-run double by
Eden Welling and RBI knocks from
Haley Remington,
Ava Swain and
Megan Medlin.
Toni Rodriguez opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second, while Welling, who went 1-for-1 with two walks and two RBIs, scored three times. Remington and Swain each added two hits and an RBI.
Olivia Masnica (9-6) earned the complete-game win, scattering six hits and allowing one earned run over five innings while striking out two.
Purdue Northwest (10-30-1, 5-16 GLIAC) got on the board with a solo homer from Olivia Hernandez in the fourth. Kylie Dugan paced the Pride with two hits and a stolen base.
Hailie Charmat (2-9) took the loss, allowing seven runs—four earned—over 3.1 innings, walking five and striking out three.
