Kenosha, Wis. - Following the conclusion of the 2024-25 regular season, Parkside will take on Wayne State in the GLIAC quarterfinals. No. 5 Parkside and No. 4 Wayne State are slated for an early 4:30 PM tip in Detroit on Wednesday night. This marks the third game of the season between the two programs and the second-ever postseason clash.
Scouting Parkside
Parkside concluded the regular season 18-9 overall, with a 13-6 GLIAC record. Parkside reached the 13-win mark in GLIAC play for the second time since joining the conference in 2018. The Rangers finished the regular season with a victory over Michigan Tech, securing a win in their De Simone Arena game. Chloe Van Zeeland, who finished the season averaging more than 20 points per game at home, led Parkside to a monster 24-point, 12-rebound double-double. Additionally, Lillie Petersen also notched a double-double, marking just the second time this season Parkside saw two players net double-doubles. Parkside won the game 72-57 and controlled momentum for much of the contest.
Cassidy Arni, the reigning GLIAC Freshman of the Year, led Parkside as she saw a massive increase in production across the board. Arni finished the season averaging 14.2 points per game, six more than her freshman year campaign. In combination with the sophomore's success, senior Chloe Van Zeeland wrapped up a career season as well. Van Zeeland posted 12.5 points per night, increasing last season's total by four full points. In fact, she led the conference with a tremendous 55% field goal percentage. Parkside will look for similar production in the postseason.
As the five seed, Parkside is forced to play the full postseason on the road. However, playing on the road hasn't been a problem for Parkside. The Rangers, commonly referred to as the "Road Rangers," were an incredible 11-4 in road games this season. That marks their best season on the road since the 2014-15 season. If Parkside were to win, they would take on the winner of No. 1 Grand Valley State and No. 8 Michigan Tech.

Scouting Wayne State
The Warriors of Wayne State finished with the same conference record as Parkside but earned the higher seed due to GLIAC tie-breaker rules. Wayne State is rolling into the postseason red hot, winners of their last three games. The Warriors earned a signature win last week, upsetting Ferris State 68-53 at home. They held Ferris State under 20 points in every single quarter and had four players finish in double figures. They then proceeded to win by 20 points in the regular-season finale over Lake Superior State. Following the critical weekend sweep, senior Shea Tripp garnered GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Tripp scored 15 against Ferris State and another 19 against Lake Superior State.
Tripp, a First Team All-GLIAC representative last season, has been the catalyst once again this year for Wayne State. Tripp notched 13.7 points per game, which ranks eighth-best in the GLIAC. Tripp meshed 7.8 boards per game, which ranks fourth in the conference. The Warriors also feature Mckenna Ferguson, who averages 12.4 points, and Taylor Thompson, who scores 11.2 points.
Similar to Parkside's success on the road, Wayne State has seen nearly all of its success come at home. When playing inside the Wayne State Fieldhouse in Detroit, the Warriors are a brilliant 11-4.
History
Parkside and Wayne State have shared the battlefield 20 times all-time, and there has been an even 10-10 split up to this point. This season, they have split the season series for the second straight year, with the away team earning the win in all four games. In fact, Parkside has won each of its last three games in Detroit and will look for its biggest one yet on Wednesday.
