Corrigan, Johnson Advance To NCAA Semifinals

INDIANAPOLIS -- Parkside Wrestling opened up the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships on Friday with five Rangers competing. After day one, Shane Corrigan and Dajun Johnson have advanced to the national semifinals. 

Corrigan had to earn his spot in the national semifinals the hard way. Corrigan opened the tournament competing in the preliminary round where he defeated Kaden Kuenzi of Lander by a 9-0 major decision. He then defeated seventh seeded  Isaiah Gamez of Adams St. in the first round by a 4-0 decision. Corrigan then clinched his spot in the semifinals and All-American status with a dramatic 8-1 decision win over second seeded Studd Morris of Central Oklahoma. Corrigan will take on sixth seeded Zachary Ourada of Nebraska Kearney in the semifinals on Saturday morning. 

Johnson brought the energy in route to his semifinal berth. He opened the tournament with a 13-3 win by major decision over Jakob Chisolm of Montevallo. Johnson then clinched All-American status and a spot in the semifinals with a 5-2 win in sudden victory over third seeded Nolan Gessler of Tiffin. Dajun will take on second seeded Jack Hoskin of Lake Erie in the semifinals on Saturday morning. 

Reece Worachek went 1-2 on Friday. Worachek opened the tournaemtn with a 10-3 win by decision over Jacari Deal of Nebraska Kearney. He then came up short against fourth seeded Cade Mueller of Augustana 4-1 in sudden victory. Reece then came up just short against sixth seeded Garrett Wells by a 2-1 decision in the consolation second round. Worachek ends his season with a 31-6 record. 

Chase Stegall went 2-2 on Friday. Stegall opened his NCAA's with a win 11-9 by decision over Gabriel Carranza in the preliminary round. Stegall trailed 9-0 in the first period but was able two rally, securing a takedown in the final seconds of the third period. Stegall fell in his next bout, losing to seventh seeded Nicholas Johnson of Glenville State. He rebounded by defeating David Bertrand of King by a 2-1 deciison in the first conolation round. In the second consolation round Stegall came up short against top seeded Dominic Murphy of St. Cloud State. Stegall ends his season with a 20-11 record. 

Lloyd Reynolds went 1-2 on Friday. Reynolds opened the tournament with a win by 6-2 decision over Isaac Sheeren of Lander. In the quarterfinals Reynolds came up short against second seeded Ryan Herman of Maryville. Then in the second consolation round Reynolds fell to top seeded Crew Howard of Nebraska Kearney in 1:14. Reynolds closes out his season with a 27-11 record.
