Parkside Rides Nine-Game Win Streak into Battle This Weekend

Kenosha, Wis. - The Parkside Rangers, winners of nine straight, are set for an extended weekend featuring four games. Parkside is slated to battle with Purdue Northwest in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday in Hammond, Indiana. The series concludes with another twin bill at Historic Simmons Field against No. 20 Minnesota State-Mankato on Monday.

Scouting Parkside

  • Parkside is off to its best start in program history (13-1).

  • They currently own the best team batting average in the nation at an eye-popping .398.

  • Parkside ranks at the top of the nation in many categories: first in doubles per game (3.50), fourth in on-base percentage (.478), sixth in both slugging percentage (.587) and scoring (10.7), and eighth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.16).

  • Through 11 games, Josh Wicker is hitting .500, which ranks top ten in the nation.

  • Parkside has three other players ranked in the top 50 in the nation: Peter Fusek (.482), Angel Rades (.472), and Owen Brock (.457).

  • Sam Mommer leads Parkside's pitching staff with 18.0 innings under his belt, netting 18 strikeouts and allowing just three earned runs in the process.

Scouting Purdue Northwest

  • The Pride enter the weekend 5-3, riding a four-game win streak.

  • They have been perfect at home with a 2-0 record when playing in Hammond.

  • During their four-game winning streak, the Pride have outscored opponents 50-9.

  • Graduate Student AJ Reid leads the Pride offense with an impressive .519 batting average. His remarkable slash line includes a .622 on-base percentage and a .815 slugging percentage with four extra-base hits.

  • Five other players have recorded an average of .300 or better, with freshman Joey Guiliano holding a .450 clip.

  • Junior Owen Walkowiak has been the x-factor on the mound, as he has yet to allow a run through 11.2 innings, with 10 strikeouts to his credit.

Scouting No. 20 Minnesota State Mankato

  • The Mavericks are 12-1 in 2025 with a perfect 8-0 NSIC record.

  • They've been on-base machines, ranking third in the nation with an astonishing .482 clip.

  • Mankato's offensive prowess has translated into 9.7 runs per game, top ten in the nation.

  • Their success at the dish is combined with a 3.90 strikeout-to-walk ratio, which is third best in the nation.

  • Graduate Student Ike Mezzenga is the offensive catalyst, carrying a batting average over .400, an OPS of 1.301, and five home runs this season.

  • Five other qualified hitters have an OPS over 1.000.

  • The Maverick pitching staff has been lethal, with three qualified pitchers sporting sub-2.10 ERAs: Nathan Culley (0.45), Mitch Gutknecht (1.59), and Louis Magers (2.08).

  • They handled a fellow GLIAC foe, Wayne State, with ease, dominating the Warriors 20-5 and 6-1 at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
