Parkside Scores New Season High, Downs Davenport at Home

Kenosha, Wis. - The Parkside Rangers set a new season-high in points in an 87-57 win over the Davenport Panthers on Thursday night. Chloe Van Zeeland led the Rangers with another massive performance at home. Parkside improved to 10-5 in conference play after the dominant victory.

Inside the box score:

  • Chloe Van Zeeland matched a career-high with 25 points. In the process, Van Zeeland posted her second double-double of the season.
  • Alli Hampel scored a season-high 12 points and neared a double-double with nine rebounds.
  • Two others scored in double figures: Cassidy Arni (16) and Sheridan Flauger (14).
  • Parkside posted two dominant quarters, with 30 in the second quarter and 26 in the final quarter.

How it happened:
Parkside began the game by not only winning the tip but turning it into two Chloe Van Zeeland points. And her night was just getting started, as she followed that bucket by grabbing an offensive rebound and laying it in for another deuce. Parkside never surrendered the lead for the entire game after gaining it very early on. Midway through the first quarter, Sheridan Flauger turned a steal into an easy transition layup, and Parkside was officially off and running. Alli Hampel capped the first ten minutes by grabbing an offensive rebound and tallying a pair of second-chance points.

The Rangers exploded for 30 points in the second quarter, their best of the entire season. Van Zeeland got the scoring started, converting a three-point play right away. After shots from Cassidy Arni and Sheridan Flauger, the Rangers had built an 11-point lead with seven minutes to play in the second. Parkside was boosted by offensive rebounds and second-chance points, continuing to take advantage of their dominance on the glass, tallying 15 second-chance points in the first half. Additionally, 34 of their 46 first-half points came in the paint. Van Zeeland was nearly unstoppable inside, finishing with 14 in the first half, along with seven boards. Arni was right with her, netting 11 in the first half.

Despite their dominance inside, Parkside struggled from deep, beginning the game 0-of-11 from three-point range. However, Peighton Nelson ended the drought as she sank Parkside's first triple of the game with 30 seconds to play in the half. Nelson's seven first-half points helped the Rangers to a 46-28 lead at halftime. They shot 61% from the field in the second quarter.

Parkside began to pick up their slack from beyond the arc as they cashed in five second-half triples. Van Zeeland quickly proved that she was far from done, picking up four quick points. Just moments later, Hampel connected on her first made three of the night. Flauger followed her with another, and the back-to-back triples propelled Parkside up 28 points.

Parkside finished strong, netting 26 points in the final quarter. Arni and Lillie Petersen splashed consecutive threes, and it felt like the early dagger as Parkside built a comfortable 70-44 lead. Hampel had a big second half, scoring 10 of her 12 points in the second half, helping put Davenport away in the final quarter. Parkside achieved a new season-high in points, marking their largest scoring margin victory of the season over a conference opponent. They are now 15-7 overall and 10-5 in GLIAC play.
