Parkside Heads North for GLIAC Quarterfinals

KENOSHA, Wis- The Parkside Rangers enter the 2025 GLIAC Tournament with momentum and confidence after finishing the regular season 18-8 overall and 9-7 in conference play. As the No. 6 seed, the Rangers will hit the road for a quarterfinal matchup against No. 3 seed Northern Michigan, looking to extend their postseason run and build on one of the program's strongest seasons in recent years.

Parkside's success throughout the regular season was fueled by a balanced, high-performing roster that ranked among the GLIAC's best statistically. The Rangers finished second in the conference in several major categories, including aces per set (1.95), assists per set (12.80), blocks per set (2.26), total assists (1,242), total service aces (189), and total blocks (219), showcasing their efficiency and depth in all phases of the game. Libero Natalie Harris played a pivotal role defensively, earning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors three times. She leads the conference in total digs (515) and digs per set (5.31) while also ranking fifth in service aces with 36. Ava Irvin has been a standout offensive catalyst, collecting two GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week awards and finishing fifth in both kills per set (3.29) and points per set (3.81), along with 319 total kills to rank sixth in the league.  Sam Fisch added another dominant presence, earning GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week in Week 7 and closing the regular season ranked third in kills per set (3.53), third in points per set (3.96), and fourth in total kills with 342.

Northern Michigan enters the postseason after a strong regular-season campaign, finishing 15-12 overall and 12-4 in GLIAC play to secure the No. 3 seed. The Wildcats have been one of the league's most effective defensive teams, ranking third in the conference in total digs (1,684) and fourth in digs per set (16.19). Offensively, NMU sits fourth in both team assists (1,216) and service aces (171), showcasing a balanced and efficient style of play. Libero Liesl Haugen has been a standout all season, earning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors three times while ranking fourth in total digs (424), second in digs per set (4.76), and second in service aces (38). At the net, McKenzie Gruner provides a major offensive presence, ranking third in the conference in hitting percentage (.329) and fifth in total kills (331), along with earning one GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week award in Week 11 this season.

Historically, Northern Michigan has held the upper hand in the series, with Parkside trailing 7–14 in the all-time matchup. This season, however, the two programs have been evenly matched, splitting the regular-season series 1–1. Northern Michigan claimed the first meeting with a narrow 3–2 victory in Marquette, but Parkside responded convincingly in the rematch, earning a 3–0 sweep at home inside De Simone Arena.
