Rangers Sweep Davenport at Home

The Parkside Rangers earned a dominant 3-0 sweep over Davenport on Saturday afternoon inside De Simone Arena, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-18 to improve to 10-3 overall and 3-3 in GLIAC play.

Parkside came out firing in the opening frame, hitting .293 as a team while converting 70 percent of their sideout opportunities. The Rangers' balanced offense and strong defense helped them build momentum early and take control of the match.

In the second set, the Rangers capitalized on five Davenport service errors while adding two service aces and four blocks of their own. Sam Fisch led the charge offensively, hitting an impressive .750 in the set alone, as Parkside held off the Panthers to take a 2-0 lead.

The Rangers closed out the match in convincing fashion in the third set, posting a 72 percent sideout rate and hitting .205 as a team. Ava Irvin was a standout in the final frame, hitting .364 with five kills, while the defense continued to frustrate the Panthers' attack to seal the sweep.

Overall, Parkside finished the day with a .195 hitting percentage and 41 total kills while holding Davenport to just .068. Avary Polavin led the way with 11 kills at a .269 clip, while Fisch and Irvin each added nine kills, with Irvin also contributing 11 digs. Lily Ray and Lucy Russ combined for 31 assists, and Natalie Harris anchored the defense with 17 digs. At the net, Maia Olson recorded four blocks, while Mariena Coon added three as Parkside out-blocked Davenport 7-5.

The Rangers are back on the road next weekend, traveling to take on Wayne State on Friday before facing Grand Valley State on Saturday.
