Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Sosa Delivers Decisive Goal in 1-0 Win Over St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Behind a second-half strike from Keven Sosa and another strong defensive effort, Parkside men's soccer earned its second consecutive 1-0 victory, defeating St. Cloud State on the road Friday night at Husky Stadium. The win pushes the Rangers into a tie for second in the GLIAC standings at 3-1 in conference play (3-3-1 overall).

The decisive goal came in the 75th minute when Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen combined with Sosa on a give-and-go through two defenders. Aguilera-Guillen slipped the ball into space, where Sosa one-timed a right-footed shot past the keeper for his first goal of the season and the first of his career. With the assist, Aguilera-Guillen retained his lead atop the GLIAC in points (12).

Parkside produced five total shots, three of which were on frame, led by Sosa, Yeison Santos, and Jamie Le Comte. Aguilera-Guillen also recorded an early attempt from distance that nearly opened the scoring.

On the other end, goalkeeper Daniyal Rana anchored the Rangers with a three-save shutout — his second straight clean sheet. Rana denied the Huskies in the 31st, 51st, and 84th minutes, standing tall against 10 St. Cloud State shots, including four second-half corners that tested the back line.

Parkside now turns its attention to a two-match homestand at Wood Road Field next weekend. The Rangers host Davenport in their GLIAC home opener on Friday, Oct. 10 at noon, before welcoming No. 20 Saginaw Valley State on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1:30 p.m.
