Rangers Sweep Lakers in Straight Sets at De Simone Arena

KENOSHA, Wis.  — The Parkside Rangers cruised to a straight-set victory over Lake Superior State on Friday night, winning 25–10, 25–15, and 25–12 inside De Simone Arena. The dominant performance lifted the Rangers to 13–6 overall and 4–5 in GLIAC play.
 
Parkside set the tone early with a dominant opening set, rolling to a 25–10 win behind strong serving and a sharp offensive attack. The Rangers held the Lakers to an impressive –.040 hitting percentage, completely controlling the net defensively. Ava Irvin led the charge with five kills on .556 hitting in the first set alone, while the Rangers tallied five service aces, including key runs from Lucy Russ and Natalie Harris. Parkside closed out the set in dominant fashion, finishing on a 10–3 run to take full control early in the match.

The Lakers responded with more energy in the second frame, keeping things close throughout, but Parkside's balanced offense continued to find its rhythm. The Rangers hit .293 in the set, led by strong efforts from Ava Irvin and Marisa Lootens, who each recorded four kills while hitting .500. Crisp passing and consistent ball control allowed Parkside to stay steady late in the frame, and a late service ace from Lucy Russ sealed the 25–21 win to give the Rangers a 2–0 match lead.
 
Parkside saved its best hitting for last, finishing the match with a dominant .405 hitting percentage in the third set. The Rangers' offense clicked across the board, as Mariena Coon, Maia Olson, and Sam Fisch each contributed timely kills. The team's front line continued to pressure the Lakers with strong blocking and aggressive swings, while the back row stayed steady in serve receive. Parkside was nearly unstoppable on offense, posting an impressive 83% sideout percentage in the final frame. The Rangers built a double-digit lead midway through the set and maintained full control the rest of the way, closing out the sweep with a 25–12 victory.

Ava Irvin paced the Parkside attack with 13 kills on .423 hitting, while senior Sam Fisch added nine kills at a .333 clip. Avary Olson and Marisa Lootens each chipped in six kills, showcasing the Rangers' offensive depth. Setters Lucy Russ and Lily Ray combined for 39 assists, helping Parkside hit .330 as a team. The Rangers also totaled 11 service aces, with Russ notching four of them, while Natalie Harris anchored the defense with 12 digs.

With the win, the Rangers will look to carry their momentum into Saturday afternoon as they return to De Simone Arena to take on Saginaw Valley State at 3 p.m. in another key GLIAC matchup.
