Rangers Picked Third in NSIC Preseason Poll; Corrigan Named Wrestler to Watch

10/16/2025 10:01:00 AM

BURNSVILLE, Minn.- The 2025-26 NSIC Wrestling Preseason Coaches' Poll was released Thursday morning, with the Parkside Rangers selected to finish third behind St. Cloud State and Augustana. Shane Corrigan was also named as an NSIC Wrestler to Watch.

Parkside is coming off a strong 13-3 campaign in 2024-25, which included a 7-2 record in NSIC competition. The Rangers finished tied for second in last year's conference standings. The Rangers return five athletes who competed at the 2025 Super Region V Championships, including Matthew Chi, Easton Worachek, and Brady Schuh, along with national qualifiers and All-Americans Shane Corrigan and Dajun Johnson. Parkside also welcomes back 2024 All-Americans Brody Hemauer and Jalen Spuhler.

Corrigan was named an NSIC Wrestler to Watch after a fifth-place finish at the 2025 NCAA National Championships. Shane was an All-American at 125 lbs and had an overall record of 25-12, including a 6-3 mark in conference matches. He has competed at the NCAA National Championships for three consecutive years and is a three-time All-American.

Head Coach Nick Becker spoke highly of Corrigan, stating, "Shane possesses a tremendous work ethic and is a student of the sport. He is always working to evolve his game and help his teammates along the way. He's one of our leaders in our program and has made a significant impact on others around him. On the mat, he is a point scorer and definitely exciting to watch compete."

Becker also shared his excitement for the group as a whole heading into the new season, saying, "I'm excited for the 13 incoming guys that we had join our program this fall. We have a good mix of veterans and first- and second-year guys. Our veterans have been leading by example and our youth have been hungry to earn a starting spot. It's been a great dynamic early on and I look forward to each and every opportunity our team has to compete this season."

The Parkside Rangers wrestling team opens its 2025–26 campaign on November 1, competing at the Pointer Open in Stevens Point at 9:00 a.m., before taking on McKendree University at the Wisconsin Wrestling Showcase in Madison, Wisconsin, at 5:00 p.m.
