Rangers Get Back in Win Column, Down LSSU

Kenosha, Wis. - The Parkside Rangers got back into the win column with a victory at home over Lake Superior State. Parkside controlled much of the game, leading for more than 85% of the contest. They got production from many players, as four finished in double figures.

Inside the box score:

  • Chloe Van Zeeland led Parkside with 19 points, securing double figures at home for the fourth time this season.
  • Sheridan Flauger filled up the stat sheet, recording 12 points, four rebounds, and six assists.
  • Lillie Petersen neared a double-double with seven points and nine rebounds. Petersen also logged four assists, tying a season high.

How it happened:
Parkside got off to a hot start, and all credit was due to Chloe Van Zeeland. Within the first two minutes of the game, she knocked down her first triple and jolted some energy into the team. Van Zeeland continued to kick into another gear, scoring eight points in the first quarter for the second straight game. Peighton Nelson helped lead the charge to an 18-point first quarter, notching six points of her own. Parkside shot 50% from the field and held the Lakers to just 12 points.

Parkside continued to ramp it up in the second quarter. This time it was Lillie Petersen who nailed a quick three, and the Rangers had their largest lead of 11 points. However, the first half was characterized by Parkside's ability to pound the ball inside and dominate in the paint. Kendal Zeiter, Cassidy Arni, and Chloe Van Zeeland all contributed to an incredible effort inside, as Parkside netted 30 of 36 points in the paint. They took a 38-26 lead into the break.

Parkside experienced a cold third quarter, scoring just 11 points. However, the team bounced back with a massive fourth quarter, scoring a game-high 25 points. After sinking just three triples all game, the Rangers knocked down three in the fourth. Sheridan Flauger got it working in the final quarter, helping put the Lakers away. She scored eight of her 12 in the second half, and she nailed a late three to put the icing on the cake. Parkside earned a rebound victory and improved to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in GLIAC play.
