Kenosha, Wis - The Parkside Volleyball program has released their 2024 schedule. The slate includes two invitationals, with the Hampton Inn Invitational making another return to Kenosha. Additionally, the GLIAC will see an 11th team join the conference.
For a seventh consecutive season, Leigh Barea will be at the helm of the Rangers. She enters the 2024 campaign as the reigning GLIAC Coach of the Year.
On September 5th, the Rangers will travel to Mankato, Minnesota, for the Maverick Invite to begin their season. During the three-day invitational, the Rangers will play in four non-conference games. The schedule continues on September 12th with the sixth annual Hampton Inn Invitational at De Simone Arena. Parkside is set to play Lake Erie, Ohio Dominican, Northern State, and Upper Iowa.
"We are looking forward to another season of high competition and opportunities to compete for a championship," said Barea. "We are excited about our preseason tournament lineup at Minnesota State-Mankato and in our home tournament. We believe they will push us to be prepared for the start of conference play."
The GLIAC schedule begins on September 20th in Kenosha, where Parkside is fresh off their best finish in program history. They finished 12-6 in GLIAC play, which was good enough for third place. Parkside will play host to Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech in the opening weekend at De Simone Arena. The following weekend includes a battle against the newly entered Roosevelt, which will be their first season in the conference.
"As always, our GLIAC schedule is always a battle night in and night out," remarked Barea. "Welcoming in a new member this fall has changed the schedule slightly compared to the past two years so we will need to make sure we are prepared every night especially vs the teams we only play once this season."
Midway through the conference schedule, Parkside will play in the Midwest Region Crossover. It will be played in Hammond, Indiana at the Hammond Sportsplex. This weekend will consist of games against teams from the GLVC and the GMAC.
"Midwest Crossover will bring great opportunities to play other region teams in the middle of conference play," said Barea. "We will continue to approach each match consistently with a prepared approach and focus on giving it our best in the moment while having a great time competing with each other!"
The GLIAC schedule resumes on October 25th and runs through November 16th, when Parkside will play their final game of the season at home. They are slated to take on the defending GLIAC Tournament Champions, Ferris State, in Kenosha.
The GLIAC Quarterfinals will be played on November 20th, with the Semifinals and Championship to be played on the 23rd and 24th, respectively.
