Rangers Shine in GLIAC Postseason Awards: Berger Leads the Pack

Kenosha, Wis - The GLIAC revealed its season-end accolades on Thursday, with Leo Berger emerging as the standout for the Rangers, crowned as the GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year. Six other Ranger players secured spots on the First, Second, and Honorable Mention Teams.
 

GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year/ First Team All-GLIAC: Leo Berger
Leo Berger's inaugural season showcased his pitching prowess, earning him the title of GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year. Berger was as dominant as it gets out of the back end of the Rangers bullpen. In fact, Berger earned five saves, which was second best in the GLIAC. In all, he pitched to a 1.90 ERA in 23.2 innings. In the process, he struck out a brilliant 39 batters. His best appearance of the season came in a 2.2 inning save against Grand Valley State. Berger did not allow a hit and punched out seven Laker hitters en route to a Rangers victory. 

 

Second Team All-GLIAC: Jude Allen
In his freshman year campaign, Jude Allen was named Second Team All-GLIAC. Despite starting with limited at-bats, Allen's perseverance and talent secured him a regular spot in the lineup by the time GLIAC play arrived. He finished the season with an impressive slashline of .333/.425/.406. He cranked his first collegiate home run against Purdue Northwest on 4/16/24, in a game that also included his first career three-hit game. Additionally, Allen registered a four-hit game against Davenport on 4/19/24. 

 

Second Team All-GLIAC: Peter Fusek
In his first and only season with the Rangers, Peter Fusek was named Second Team All-GLIAC. Fusek played in all 49 games for the Rangers and even appeared on the mound a few times. At the dish, he slashed .309/.419/.446 with 15 extra-base hits. Fusek's five triples was fourth best in the conference, and his 23 stolen bases led the GLIAC as a whole. He registered 19 multi-hit games, which led the Rangers. Fusek appeared ten times on the mound and even recorded two saves, most recently against Purdue Northwest in a Parkside sweep. 

 

Second Team All-GLIAC: Emanuel Andujar Ferreira
In his final season with the Rangers, Emanuel Andujar Ferreira earned his first All-GLIAC honors. Andujar, in just about as many games, improved all of his offensive hitting stats. He slashed a ridiculous .398/.455/.639 with 12 doubles and a career-best four home runs. Additionally, Andujar registered 32 RBI's which led the Rangers. He had 12 multi-hit games, and his best performance of the season came against Southwest Baptist on 3/2/24. He recorded three hits, all which were doubles, and a career-best five runs batted in. Andujar completed the regular season with an eight-game hitting streak. 

 

Second Team All-GLIAC: Kaleb Schulist
Kaleb Schulist was recognized as Second Team All-GLIAC in his final season with the Rangers. The southpaw from Shantytown, Wisconsin tallied the most innings on the team with 48 innings on the bump. In the process, Schulist recorded 45 punchouts and walked just 15 batters. He struck out at least five batters, in five different starts. Additionally, he dealt two complete games for the Rangers this season. The first one came on 3/30/24 against Davenport. On Senior Day, Schulist was back at it once again. This time, it was his first career complete game shutout. Schulist blanked Purdue Northwest, striking out five batters, and leading the Rangers to a victory. 

 

Honorable Mention All-GLIAC: Owen Brock
Owen Brock made an immediate impact in his debut season with the Rangers, earning Honorable Mention All-GLIAC honors. From the beginning, Brock demonstrated a determined attitude. In his first game with the program, he clubbed a game-tying solo blast in the final inning against Rockhurst on 2/18/24. Brock's clutch gene played on multiple occasions throughout the season. Brock was at the bottom of a dog pile after a walk-off victory over Wayne State on 4/12/24. He struck in the clutch once again on 4/27/24 against Purdue Northwest. In the midst of his best performance of the season, Brock hammered a go-ahead three-run shot to give the Rangers an eighth inning lead. He finished the season with a .264 batting average, and 13 extra-base hits including four home runs. 

 

Honorable Mention All-GLIAC: Jared Heinzen
Jared Heinzen earned All-GLIAC honors for the first team in his Rangers career. Heinzen fell in love with the long ball, ripping a career-high four round trippers in senior season. He collected eight multi-hit games, and had the best game of his season on 4/20/24 against Davenport, recording three-hits in the game. Additionally, he ripped a three-run shot to cap a career-game. Heinzen culminated his time with the Rangers with a significant moment on Senior Day. He launched a solo home run over the center field fence at the College of Lake County, taking the long trot around the bases on the special day.
