Rangers Fall in Final Two Games of the Regular Season

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Rangers softball team closed out regular season play with a GLIAC doubleheader against Grand Valley State on Saturday afternoon. Parkside dropped both games of the twin bill, falling 7-1 in game one and 5-0 in game two.

Game One
Grand Valley jumped on the scoreboard first in the bottom of they first inning. They would pefrectly execute small ball by bunting in a run to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Lakers.

Parkside would answer immediately in the top half of the second inning. Taylor Delgado would hit a RBI single to right field to score a run and knot the game up at 1-1. It would be all the Rangers offense could muster as the Lakers would go on to score six unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth innings to cruise to a 7-1 victory.

Game Two
The Rangers offense would experience the same struggles in game two. Parkside would have just two players reach base, via a Mia Johnson walk and a Toni Rodriguez double. The Lakers offense exploded for five runs in the opening inning of play and would prove to be enough to take the game by a 5-0 scoreline.

Up Next
The Rangers will now turn their focus to postseason play. No. 6 Parkside will play No. 3 Purdue Northwest on Thursday in the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament in Rosemont Illinois. The game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. CDT start. Coverage can be found at ParksideRangers.com/coverage.
