Game One vs. Purdue Northwest
The opening game of the GLIAC Tournament would be a showcase of defensive talent.
Olivia Masnica would have a brilliant day on the mound but lacked the run support. The junior tossed the full 8.2 innings for the Rangers and would only allow one run. The Rangers defense was also impressive as several players would come up big with highlight level plays.
The game would be won on an one out sacrifice fly to left field by the Pride in the bottom of the ninth inning of play sending Parkside to the elimination side of the bracket.
Game Two vs. Wayne State
The Rangers would look for revenge in game two as they would take on Wayne State who entered the elimination bracket after dropping their opening game to Ferris State.
Ellie Curtis would get the start in the circle for the Rangers. The sophomore would pitch 6.2 innings collecting just one earned run on four hits. Teammate
Olivia Fee would come in to record the final out of the game and secure the save.
Wayne State would strike first in the bottom of the third inning. The Warriors would push across a run on a sacrifice fly to center field. They would take the 1-0 lead heading into the fourth inning of play.
Parkside immediately got to work, answering the Warriors run in the next half inning. A
Haley Remington single to left center field would bring around
Rylee Baetz to score the Rangers first run and to draw even with Wayne State 1-1.
Neither side would score again until the seventh inning. In the top half of the inning the Rangers got to work.
Toni Rodriguez would drive in Remington on a RBI single to left field to give the Rangers the 2-1 lead. Parkside wasn't done yet as
Taylor Utrata would drive the ball out to left field. A fielding error would allow pinch runner
Eden Welling to score to add to the Rangers lead 3-1. The Rangers would score their final run of the inning when Utrata would steal third base. A throwing error on the play allowed Utrata to advance home and give Parkside the commanding 4-1 lead heading to the bottom half of the final inning of play.
The Warriors would look to produce some runs to push the game to extras. They would score a run due to a Ranger throwing error in the inning.
Olivia Fee would enter and slam the door shut on the Warriors as Parkside would secure the 4-2 victory to advance.
