KENOSHA, Wis. – The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association has honored Rangers junior forward Chloe Van Zeeland as the WBCA Newcomer of the Year for Division II.

The award considers all Wisconsin native women's basketball players playing college basketball at the NCAA Division II level.

"Congratulations to Chloe on being named WBCA Newcomer of the Year! We are so proud of her and love to see her rewarded for her hard work this season. Wisconsin is loaded with talent; to be honored with this award means a lot. Thank you to the WBCA committee for recognizing Chloe! We are proud to be Wisconsin's only NCAA D2 program and are determined to continue to keep talented players from Wisconsin, like Chloe, home," said head coach Jen Conely in regards to Van Zeeland's recognition.

The Kaukauna native transferred to Jen Conely's program this past fall from Illinois State and made a tremendous impact in her first year in a Rangers uniform. She appeared in all but one game for Parkside and averaged a career high 8.5 ppg. She would also put down an average of 3.8 rebounds a game. Van Zeeland was also solid from the charity stripe as she would go 25 for 29 on the season for an 86.2% clip, best on the team.

Van Zeeland's breakout game of the year came on January 4th, as she would pour in a career high 18 points while shooting 5-7 from the field in a road loss to SVSU. Including that loss, Van Zeeland would go on average double digits in points at 10.1 ppg through the final 18 games of the season. She would go on to earn a starting spot in the final eight games of the year.
