Rangers Split the Day in Big Rapids

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Parkside softball team had another GLIAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon taking on the Ferris State Bulldogs. The Rangers split the day dropping the first game in a 5-0 outcome then bounced back in game two picking up the 8-6 victory. 

Game One
The Rangers would struggle to produce runs in game one. This marks just the fifth game of 45 the Rangers have played that they have been shut out. Haley Remington had a solid game one, recording half of Parkside's hits. 

Game Two
The Rangers would show resilance in game two, bouncing back well and picking up the win. Oliva Fee would get the win in her relief appearance. In her third win of the season, Fee would throw 4.2 innings and allowing just one run. 

The Rangers struck first in the top of the third inning. Cassie Rutledge would reach base after being hit by pitch to pave the way for Mia Johnson. Johnson remained hot, knocking a RBI double down the left field line to score Rutledge. The Rangers were just getting started as Haley Remington would bring home the next Ranger run on a RBI single. Toni Rodriguez would round out the third inning scoring with a RBI single to center field to make the score 3-0. 

The Bulldogs answered immediately in their half of the third. They would plate five runs to take the lead from the Rangers 5-3.

In fourth inning the Rangers would start their comeback. Parkside would bring in a run on a ground out. The would edge closer 5-4.

The Rangers blew the door open in the fifth inning. Toni Rodriguez would bring in a run then heads up base running by Rylee Baetz would expose a Bulldog fielding error to plate two Parkside runs. Taylor Delgado would knock in the next run with a single to left field. Johnson would bring home the final run of the inning on a single to right field as the Rangers took control of the game 8-5.

Olivia Fee would would finish the game for the Rangers, pitching out of a pinch in the seventh inning to secure the 8-6 Ranger victory.
