UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Parkside softball team returned to action for the first time in eight days as they opened GLIAC play agaisnt Saginaw Valley State on Friday afternoon. The Rangers dropped both games of the doubleheader, falling in game one 9-0, and in game two 8-2.
Game One
The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead in the bottom half of the first inning and never looked back. SVSU pushed across five runs in the home half of the first inning alone. They tacked on one more run in the second inning and two more in the third. The Cardinals offense over powered the Rangers, as they strung together 12 hits on the afternoon.
Megan Medlin would be responsible for the Rangers lone hit in game one as she went 1-2 with a single.
Game Two
Parkside looked to bounce back in game two. The Cardinals offense generated two runs through the first three innings played. Parkside got on the board with a
Toni Rodriguez two RBI single in the top of the fourth inning tying the score at 2-2. Saginaw Valley State responded immediately, posting a two run bottom half of the fourth. They would tack on four more in the fifth to put the game out of Parkside's reach as the Cardinals would take game two 8-2.Â
