Parkside Completes Weekend Sweep, Secures Seventh Straight Victory

Kenosha, Wis - The Parkside Rangers once again secured a pair of victories on Saturday. First, Parkside converted a three-game sweep over Northland College with a dominant 14-3 win. Parkside ended the weekend with a 10-4 victory over Rockford University. 

 

GAME ONE

Behind yet another big offensive performance, Parkside secured a seven-inning mercy rule victory over Northland College. Noah Gerritson set the tone with one of the best performances by a Rangers on the mound since 2017. Peter Fusek remained red hot with a pair of extra-base hits, and Emanuel Andujar Ferreira, Carter Storti, Joe Hoeks, and Benje Hencke all recorded two hit games. 

After striking for two runs in the first inning, Parkside kept the balling rolling. Peter Fusek cranked his first home run of the season into dead center field. It was a three-run blast and Parkside led 5-0 after two innings. 

Noah Gerritson got the nod for the Rangers in the first game and displayed pure dominance. Gerritson lasted 5.2 innings and struck out 11 hitters. It was the most strikeouts for a Parkside pitcher since 2017.

The Rangers continued to pour it on in the fourth inning, they crossed four runs in the inning. Emanuel Andujar Ferreira drove home Fusek to begin the scoring. Later on, Jude Allen drove home a pair of runs on a two-run base hit. Parkside led 9-2 after four innings of baseball. 

In the fifth inning, Joe Hoeks snuck a single through the right side to score two more runs. Hoeks finished the game with three-runs batted in. And in the sixth inning, Benje Hencke and John Wubben delivered RBI hits to propel Parkside ahead 14-2. 

K.T. Brown put the finishing touches on a 14-3 Parkside victory, completing a three-game sweep over Northland. Noah Gerritson got the victory after an historic outing.

 

GAME TWO

In a game that was back-and-forth for the first six innings of baseball, Parkside rode a big seventh inning to a Saturday night victory. Andrew Harris and Koto Sato both notched multi-hit games. Kaleb Schulist led the charge on the mound, and Austin Grube helped out en route to the win. 

Rockford drew first blood in the opening inning, taking a 1-0 lead. Parkside's offense took three-innings to get going, but they took their lead in the fourth inning. Emanuel Andujar Ferreira stayed red hot, tying the game with an RBI single. Joe Hoeks drove in the go-ahead run, grounding out but scoring John St. Clair

Kaleb Schulist earned the start on the mound for Parkside. He lasted 4.1 innings, allowing two runs, and he struck out four hitters. Schulist provided a quality start in his first start of the season. He left in the game in a 2-2 tie. 

In the fifth inning, Owen Brock broke the tie. Brock hit a looping single into right field to score Peter Fusek. Parkside added another run on a John St. Clair sacrifice-fly, scoring Angel Rades. Rockford tied the game in the sixth inning on a two-run double, and the game entered the seventh inning knotted up at four. 

Parkside would finally break through in the seventh inning, as Andrew Harris came through with his first hit of the game. After Angel Rades led the inning off with a double, Harris drove him home with a double of his own. Parkside would score four total runs in the inning as Andujar and Hoeks collected RBI's. 

Austin Grube entered in relief for Parkside and picked up first win as a Parkside Ranger. Grube was dominant, pitching 2.1 innings, striking out two batters, and he did not allow a hit. Benje Hencke got the final three outs on the bump, and Parkside secured a 10-4 win over Rockford. Parkside won their seventh straight game and improved to 11-7 overall.
