Preview: Softball Set to Travel to Rosemont for the Dome Tournament

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside softball team is set to make the short trip down to Rosemont Ill., to play in the Rosemont Dome Tournament. The Rangers will play six games in total with two games on Thursday, two on Friday, and the final two on Sunday.
 
Thursday, February 22
vs. Minnesota State Moorhead @ 1:30 p.m. CST
vs. Truman State @ 3:30 p.m. CST
 
Friday, February 23
vs. Minnesota Duluth @ 11:00 a.m. CST
vs. Upper Iowa @ 1:30 p.m. CST
 
Sunday, February 25
vs. William Jewell @ 10:00 a.m. CST
vs. Lewis @ 12:30 p.m. CST

The Rangers enter the tournament after going 2-3 in the season opening Music City Invitational. In last week's action, Parkside had two players bat .400 or better in the five games played. Haley Remington led the way batting .438 on the weekend with seven hits including a double. Remington also drove in a team leading five RBIs. Sophomore Mia Johnson batted .400 and had a stellar 1.167 OBS, good enough to lead the team in the category. Johnson has tallied two doubles and a triple across the first five games of the season.
 
Six different Rangers made an appearance in the circle in last week's action. Olivia Masnica had a killer day against Thomas More, throwing all seven innings and allowing just one earned run in her first victory of the season. Mascina also carries a team leading 0.64 ERA across two appearances so far this season. Olivia Fee has the other Ranger win from the weekend to her credit. Fee picked up the win against McKendree in the Rangers comeback victory. She dealt 2.1 innings, not allowing a run and striking out three batters.
 
Minnesota State University Moorhead
The Dragons enter the weekend after going 1-4 at the D2 Cactus in Tucson, Ariz., to open their season.
 
Truman State
The Bulldogs have already played nine games so far this season and sits at 4-5 going into this weekend's action. Truman State is a familiar foe for the Rangers dating back to Parkside's GLVC days. The Rangers have gone 1-13 against the Bulldogs, picking up their first win in the series history in the last outing between the two sides. The Rangers won 6-5 in the opening game of last year's Rosemont Dome Tournament.
 
University of Minnesota Duluth
UMD enters the tournament with a spotless 3-0 record after going perfect at the Mankato Dome Invite. The Bulldogs notably beat Lewis 6-0 in the last game of the invite. The Rangers and Flyers are set to face off in Sunday's slate of games.
 
Upper Iowa
The Peacocks enter this week's action with a 2-6 record. They have dropped their last three games played.
 
William Jewel
The Cardinals come into the tournament already having played 10 games so far in this early season. They have gone 4-6 so far, most recently dropping their double header against St. Cloud State on Monday.
 
Lewis
The Flyers enter the weekend after going 2-2 at the MSU Invitational back at the beginning of the month. Their opening game of the Rosemont Dome Tournament on Thursday will be their first game in 21 days. The battle between the Rangers and the Flyers is a tale as old as time. The two programs have faced each other 45 times. The overall series record favors the Flyers, 28-17.
