Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Brown and O’Rourke Ignite Parkside Past Davenport

Kenosha, Wis - The Parkside Rangers snapped a three-game skid after taking down the Davenport Panthers on Saturday. Nick Brown and Colin O'Rourke both had career nights as they combined for 48-points, in the 80-61 win at home.

Inside the box score:

  • Nick Brown registered a season-high 21-points, draining three triples, collecting four rebounds, and dishing out six assists.

  • Two weeks removed from netting a career-high, Colin O'Rourke once again reached the 27-point mark. He finished 11-13 from the free throw line and secured nine rebounds.

  • Parkside outscored Davenport 43-29 in the second half en route to the victory.

How it happened:

After a quiet beginning the game with no team to put the ball through the net for the first 90-seconds, Ethan Ivan broke the ice. Ivan had an easy layup after Nick Brown set him up with a bullet pass. Brown began his massive game by both dishing the rock and running out in transition for his first basket. The first half of basketball was filled with scoring runs for both teams. Parkside jumped out to a 10-5, four and half minutes in.

The game continued to sway back and forth, as Davenport jumped out to a 20-11 lead just three-minutes later. When they needed it the most, it took no time for Colin O'Rourke to get going. He began the game a perfect 5-5 from the field and hit a tough fade away. O'Rourke had 12-points just 12 minutes into the game and fueled Parkside in the first half.

Josiah Palmer scored only five points in the first half, but they were timely. With 7:25 minutes left in the opening half, Palmer scored in transition to give Parkside the lead right back, 26-25. After Davenport regained the lead, Palmer connected with Rokas Castillo who gave Parkside the lead with a downtown hit.

Parkside ended the first half with an exclamation point, as O'Rourke cleaned up the offensive glass and had a tip-in basket ahead of the halftime buzzer. Parkside went into the halftime break with a 37-32 lead.

Parkside played dominant basketball in the second half, not surrendering the lead again. Just minutes in, Brown and Palmer came up with big shots. Brown began his 14-point second half with a dribble drive followed by a spin move and lay-up. Palmer followed up with his second made triple of the game. Parkside opened up a 10-point advantage just four-minutes into the half.

Palmer stayed hot and delivered another triple for Parkside hitting numerous clutch shots down the stretch.

Parkside got tremendous production from freshman Jake Dunham. Dunham was a +5 in his 11-minutes of action. Dunham scored on a tough take to the basketball to extend Parkside's lead to 13-points with 11:54 remaining. As Parkside gained full control of the contest, Nick Brown topped off his stellar night by nailing a deep three off the dribble, and got fouled. Brown converted a four-point play that electrified De Simone Arena and was the icing on the cake for Parkside.

Parkside led for 30:33 of the game and advanced to 12-13 overall and 7-8 in GLIAC play. As it stands today, they remain just half a game out of a home playoff game with three games left in the season.

Up next:

Parkside will take the next six days off before returning to action once again. They will play in their regular season home finale against Purdue Northwest next Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 pm and coverage of the event can be found at ParksideRangers.com/coverage.
