Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rangers Earn Critical Win Over Michigan Tech

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Parkside women's soccer team returned to action on Sunday afternoon, welcoming the Michigan Tech Huskies to Wood Road Field. Parkside was able to battle through the elements, netting a first half goal and getting stellar second half defense en route to a 1-0 victory. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Uda Kimba netted her first goal of the season Sunday. It was her second career goal at home against MTU. 
  • MTU out shot Parkside 15-14 but Parkside put more shots on net (5-4). 
  • Lola Minic earned her sixth clean sheet of the season in net, making four saves. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Parkside came out firing early, creating a number of chances offensively. Emily Mikkelson nearly broke the scoreless tie in the 16th minute when she laced a shot off of the crossbar. 

The Rangers continued to push the pace offensively, finally breaking through in the 31st minute. Ava Rizzitano played a pass to the top of the box from in front of the Rangers bench. There Madi Kasianowicz feed a perfect pass to Kimba who beat the keeper low to the right for what proved to be the game winning score. 

Parkside's defense was tested heavily in the second half. The Huskies were able to create 12 shots and four corner kicks over the final 45 minutes. Minic made a tremendous save in the 64th minute, getting her fingertips on a driving ball toward the right post. 

UP NEXT
With the win the Rangers have clinched a spot in the 2024 GLIAC Tournament.

Parkside will play two matches over the final week of the regular season. They will first hit the road to take on the Ferris State Bulldogs in Big Rapids, Michigan on Thursday afternoon.
