Rangers Defeated by Panthers in Straight Sets

Kenosha, Wis. - On senior day, the Parkside Rangers were taken down by the Davenport Panthers. The Rangers had a solid offensive night, swinging .190 collectively, but Davenport was led by Abby Alan who registered 16 kills in the three set victory.

Despite the loss, it was a special night at De Simone Arena, as the Rangers honored their five seniors; Elizabeth Truckenbrod, Sierra Marshall, Alayja Floyd, Lindsay Krznarich, and Karlee Lois

Inside the box score:

  • Sam Fisch led the Rangers offense with 13 kills and 15 total points.

  • Kendal Zeiter recorded a career-high 16 digs, along with six kills.

  • Lily Ray dished out a Rangers-best 18 assists.

How it happened:

In the first set, the Rangers and Panthers went back and forth in the early stages. Kendal Zeiter got the Rangers rolling early, executing a pair of kills to start the night. Both teams swung effectively as the set progressed, with the score tied at 15. Out of the first media timeout, Davenport put together a six-point run that sparked their momentum. Despite late kills from Sam Fisch and Elizabeth Truckenbrod, Davenport claimed the first set 25-20, setting the tone for the match.

In the second set, the Rangers swung at exactly .300 but were unable to pull out a victory. Sam Fisch was in rhythm, notching six kills in the set and delivering timely plays throughout. The set was tightly contested, with neither team leading by more than two points at any time. With the Rangers trailing 24-23, Sierra Kilbourn came through with a clutch kill to even the score. However, Davenport continued to make key plays, securing the final two points to take a 2-0 lead.

Through two sets, the Rangers were attacking at a .286 clip. However, a .022 performance in the final set proved costly. Parkside fell behind early, 7-1, and was unable to recover. A team typically strong from the service line, Parkside struggled with 12 service errors and just four aces. Davenport played a strong match, earning their 10th win of the season. Parkside's record now stands at 11-15 overall and 7-8 in conference play.
