Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rangers Cruise to 3-0 Victory Over No. 16 SVSU

KENOSHA, Wis – The Parkside men's soccer team returned to Wood Road Field on Friday afternoon for more GLIAC action. The Rangers hosted the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals, playing SVSU for the first time since the Cardinals knocked the Rangers out of the GLIAC Tournament in 2023. Parkside got the revenge, topping SVSU 3-0.

Inside the Box Score
Matteo Quintero was the man of the match, racking up three points of the day. Quintero scored a goal and added an assist to help aid the Rangers to the win.
The defenders also got it done for the Rangers as Mario Bolado and Pol Saiz each scored. It's Bolado's second consecutive game with a goal and Saiz's first goal of his career.
The Parkside backline and goalkeeper Daniyal Rana collected their third clean sheet of the season, and their second in GLIAC play.

How it Happened
The Rangers jumped on top early as a 2nd minute corner kick conceded by the Cardinals would set the table. Matteo Quintero would send a bending cross that would find the back of the net for the olimpico goal. Quintero's first goal of 2024 would give the Rangers the early 1-0 lead.

The 1-0 lead wouldn't be enough for the Rangers as they would find the back of the net once again in the 38th minute. A foul on the Cardinals would give the Rangers a free kick from about 35 yards out from the goal. Mario Bolado would send in a left footed shot that would go over the reach of the SVSU goalkeeper to make the scoreline 2-0 in favor of Parkside. It's Bolado's second free kick goal of the season. The Rangers would hold the 2-0 lead heading into the half.

The cherry on top would come early in the second half on another corner kick opportunity. They would end the match having won nine total corners, a season high for the Rangers. The 51st minute corner kick taken by Matteo Quintero would find the head of Pol Saiz, who would nod it into the bottom left corner to give the Rangers the 3-0 lead. The Rangers would see the scoreline through to pick up another GLIAC victory.
