A GLIAC and a Non-Conference Battle Await Rangers

KENOSHA, Wis – The Parkside men's soccer program is set for a road GLIAC match and nonconference battle at Wood Road Field. The Rangers will first hit the road to Roosevelt for GLIAC action on Friday with a 2 p.m. CDT kickoff. Parkside will then return home for a 2023 NCAA Tournament rematch against Maryville. Kickoff in Kenosha is set for 2:30 p.m. CDT.

The Rangers enter this week's action after going 1-0-1 in the weekend previous. They would pick up a ranked GLIAC victory in a 3-0 decision over No. 16 Saginaw Valley State to open the weekend. The Rangers would then battle to a 2-2 draw against Davenport. Matteo Quintero had a massive weekend of action. The Milwaukee native racked up five points on two goals and assist.
 
SCOUTING ROOSEVELT

Roosevelt enters the week with a 4-2-2 record and a 2-2-0 record in GLIAC action. The GLIAC's newest team went 1-1-0 in the weekend previous. The Lakers would drop a 1-0 game to St. Cloud State to open the weekend. They would then bounce back to pick up a 1-0 victory over Northern Michigan.
 
Roosevelt's offensive attack is led by Nick Killian. Killian has been a key facilitator for the Lakers dishing out a team high five assists this season to lead the team. Teammates Gaberiel Koenig and Oskar Schuster have two goals apiece to lead the Lakers.
 
Defensively the Lakers are led by goalkeeper Eric Carvajal. He has been Roosevelt's only man between the posts this season, appearing in all eight matches and racking up 720 minutes of action. He boasts a .727 save percentage and has accumulated 24 saves on the year.
 
HISTORY
This match up will mark the first since 1980 between the two programs. The all-time series is knotted up at one game apiece.
 
 
SCOUTING MARYVILLE
The Saints enter this week with a 5-4-1 record. Maryville is currently riding a three-match win streak, topping GLVC opponents in Drury, UMSL and Lincoln. Before heading north to Kenosha, the Saints will play a GLVC match at No. 7 McKendree on Friday.
 
Maryville's offense is fueled by Bryce Glisson and Mason Crew. Both have three goals each to lead the team in the category. Glisson has recorded two assists this season to give him eight points on the year to lead the Saints.
 
On the defensive end Maryville has had four different goalkeepers see action this season. Steen Nielson has started the past two matches for the Saints and is unbeaten when in net this season. He has seven saves so far with a .875 save percentage.
 
HISTORY
The series favors the Rangers with the all-time record sitting at 7-5. Maryville did win in the last meeting between the two sides in a 4-3 victory in a NCAA Tournament overtime thriller last season.
