Rangers Explode For 99 Points in Impressive Team Victory

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Parkside women's basketball team played in their third game in five days on Monday night against Benedictine. The Rangers, coming off a victory against Wayne State where they scored a season high 95 points, continued on their offensive tear, dropping a new season high 99 points in a 99-49 victory.

Inside the Box Score
  • The Rangers had two players with double doubles in Alli Hampel (13 points, 14 rebounds) and Lillie Petersen (14 points, 10 rebounds). It's the first time the Rangers had two players with double doubles since 2017.
  • Parkside had seven players score in double digits in Van Zeeland, Ficek, Petersen, Hampel, Derlein, Gallasova, and Zeiter.
  • Van Zeeland lead the way for the Rangers scoring 17 points and shooting an extraordinary 7-8 from the field.
How it Happened
The Rangers started hot and jumped out to a 19-2 lead with just under four minutes remaining in the first half. The Rangers stifled the Eagles offensive production, allowing them to score just seven points in the opening quarter of play. The score would sit at 23-7 at the conclusion of the first quarter.

The fun didn't stop there for the Rangers as they opened the second quarter on another massive run. Parkside would move the ball well and knock down open looks. The Rangers would extend their lead to as much as 33 points in the second quarter. Brooklyn Ficek would lead the way for UWP in the second quarter, scoring seven of her 14 points. Parkside would head into halftime with a 47-19 lead.

The third quarter was the best shooting quarter the Rangers would put together as they shot 60% from the floor. Paty Gallasova would come alive for Parkside as she would go on to score six of her 12 points in the third period of play.

Parkside would go on in the fourth quarter to score 28 points, their most of the four quarters. The damage would be done to the Rangers to capture the victory by their largest margin of the season 99-49.

Parkside will return to action on Saturday as they will resume GLIAC play. The Rangers will travel down to Purdue Northwest for a battle with the Pride. Tip off from Hammond is scheduled for 1 p.m. CST. Coverage for the game can be found at parksiderangers.com/coverage.
