No. 4 Parkside Rolls Over SMSU in Marshall

MARSHALL, Minn. – The No. 4 Parkside wrestling team hit the road on Friday evening, taking on the Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs. The Rangers put together another strong performance, downing the Mustangs by a 36-11 final score. With the win, the Rangers improved to 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in NSIC play. The Rangers' dual unbeaten streak now stands at 18.
 
No. 3 ranked Shane Corrigan started the night with a bang, picking up his 20th win of the season by pinning Carlo Arreola with 1:02 to go in the third period.
 
No. 4 ranked Matthew Chi kept it rolling, picking up four takedowns in the third period to pick up the win by a 19-4 tech fall over Chase Murphy.
 
No. 3 ranked Cayden Henschel picked up five more points for the Rangers, defeating Jacob Messner by a 19-4 tech fall. Henschel had six takedowns in the contest, including three in the third period.
 
No 11 ranked Jalen Spuhler was in a 4-4 tie after the first period but picked up an escape and takedown in the second and a takedown in the third to pick up a 12-5 win by decision over Luke Peterson.
 
No. 12 ranked Ben Durocher continued to build the Ranger lead. A second-period reversal was critical as Durocher picked up the 6-2 win by decision over Sean Howk. Parkside led 22-0 after the first five matches.
 
No. 9 ranked Brady Schuh had a strong performance. Schuh led 13-0 after the first and cruised to an 18-3 tech fall win over Lucas Hodges.
 
No. 8 Reece Worachek also picked up a tech fall win of his own Friday night. Worachek had five takedowns and defeated Adam Sylvester by an 18-2 tech fall.
 
The Mustangs picked up points at 197 and 285, but the Rangers had already done enough, securing the 36-11 win.
 
The Rangers will return to action on Friday, February 2nd when they head to Moorhead, Minnesota to take on the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons. The opening bout is set for 7:00pm. Links to coverage can be found at ParksideRangers.com/coverage.
