Romeoville, Ill. - Coming off a 5-3 win over Quincy earlier this week, the Rangers men's soccer team traveled to Lewis to take on the Flyers. The Flyers entered the match after drawing with Purdue Northwest in a goalless affair to open their 2023 season. The Rangers continued their winning ways topping the Flyers 2-1. The Rangers move to 2-0 on the year while the Flyers drop to 0-1-1.

Lewis struck first, scoring their lone goal in the 12th minute of play. It didn't take long for Parkside to respond as 2 minutes later Mario Bolado fired a shot from over 20 yards out that nestled its way into the bottom corner of the goal to draw the scoreline even at 1-1.
The game decider came in the 31st minute off the right foot of Alejandro Martinez. Martinez's second goal of the season beat the keeper in the upper right corner of the goal.
The Rangers will return home this upcoming Thursday September 7th as they will take on University of Illinois Springfield. The game will be a part of the Ranger Welcome festivities. The Ranger Welcome Tailgate will start at 11 am. All students in attendance will receive free hot dogs on behalf of Parkside Athletics.
