Rangers Bounce Back and Pick Up a Win at Home

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside men's soccer team returned home to Wood Road Soccer Field for GLIAC action on Friday. The Rangers entered the match after opening GLIAC play at Purdue Northwest in a rainy match. Leaving Hammond with a draw, the Rangers were looking to bounce back today against St. Cloud State. Two second half goals lifted the Rangers to victory as they improve to 3-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in GLIAC play. St. Cloud State remains winless on the year and falls to 0-5-2 on the year and 0-2-1 in GLIAC contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers offense was firing on all cylinders early in the match. The Rangers got off eight shots in the first 45 minutes of the match but lacked a goal. The Rangers had several chances but failed to bury them. 

The first goal of the match game in the 64th minute of action as a Chris Estrada shot was blocked Edgar Heredia Victoria cleaned up the spill by striking nylon. Estrada is credited with the assist on the goal, his first on the year. The Rangers continued on witha one goal advantage for majority of the final minutes. On a corner kick in the 90th minute of play the Huskies brought up their goalkeeper to try to level the score late in the game. The cleared ball ended at the feet of Alejandro Martinez with nothing but open field in front of him and an open goal. Martinez beat the to Huskie denfenders in a foot race to score to add the cherry on top of the Ranger win. 

The Rangers will remain at home as apart of the Weekend of Winning at Parkside this weekend. They will play Sunday in a doubleheader with the women's program.
