Hayley Treadway Selected for 2023-24 NCAA Pathway Program

6/22/2023 2:35:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS --- The NCAA has selected its cohort for the 2023-24 Pathway Program, the yearlong initiative designed to prepare senior-level athletics administrators for the next career step as directors of athletics or conference commissioners. Parkside Athletics Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Success and Senior Woman Administrator Hayley Treadway will be part of the 2023-24 cohort.

"I have had the good fortune to work alongside and under several past participants in the NCAA Pathway program," remarked Treadway. "The relationships they formed and the springboard effect it had on their careers are self-evident, but when I looked deeper, the consistently appearing strengths of these individuals were their confidence, intentionality, and visionary leadership.  I look forward to this immersive professional development experience, but equally excited to expand my network to include other motivated Athletic Administrators, and lean into the mentorship opportunities that this program affords. Thank you to former Director of Athletics Andrew Gavin and former Chancellor Debbie Ford for your encouragement in pursuing this opportunity. I would also like to thank GLIAC Commissioner Kris Dunbar for nominating me for the program."

The Pathway Program, under the direction of NCAA leadership development, is an intensive, experiential learning opportunity for selected participants who work at an NCAA school or conference in Divisions I, II, or III. During the year, the 21 participants will be paired with and have regularly scheduled meetings with a campus or conference mentor. The mentors include directors of athletics, conference commissioners, and school presidents, among others in leadership roles.

The Pathway Program is designed to help cement their leadership purpose and enhance their skills in areas that focus on strategic planning; fundraising; message articulation; diversity, equity, and inclusion; organizational leadership; hiring processes; and engagement with search firms. The 2023-24 cohort will meet June 25-30 for a weeklong education session in Indianapolis and will return in October for more programming and to observe their divisions' respective governance meetings. The program will conclude in the summer of 2024.

Treadway has been at Parkside since September 2019. In her role at Parkside, Treadway serves as a member of the senior athletics administration, supervising the holistic compliance operations of the athletics department which includes eligibility certification, financial aid, rules education, and monitoring. She also provides leadership to the athletic administrative units of Academics, Student-Athlete Success, Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, and Mental Health Advocacy. Treadway also serves as the deputy Title IX coordinator for athletics and is the Senior Woman Administrator. Because of her Senior Woman Administrator designation, Treadway is a key stakeholder of the GLIAC, serving on multiple governance committees. She also serves on the NCAA Men's Soccer Midwest Regional Advisory Committee. Treadway currently has direct sport oversight of Parkside men's and women's soccer, wrestling, men's and women's golf, and softball.

Before her time at Parkside Treadway served as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Internal Operations and Senior Women Administrator at the University of Illinois – Springfield. Treadway earned her Bachelor of Science in physical education from Valparaiso in 2007. She went on to earn her Master's Degree in sports management and Juris Doctor degree from Valpo, both in May of 2010.
