Parkside Earns Doubleheader Sweep at Ferris State

The Parkside softball team traveled to Big Rapids, Mich. for a doubleheader against the Ferris State Bulldogs. The Rangers offense was a force to be reckoned with in both games, as they came away with the first conference multi-game day sweep since 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
The Rangers struck first in the third inning with an RBI double from Megan Medlin, scoring Cassie Rutledge on the play.
 

 
The action continued in the fourth inning with a two RBI double from Jadynn Powell, scoring Tia Livernash and Haley Reminton. Kiley Akey followed the play up with a double that brought Powell around to score. Rutledge got in on the fourth inning rally with an RBI single to score Akey, bring the Rangers lead to 5-0.
 



 
The Bulldogs found their offense in the fourth inning with a two RBI double to make it a 5-2 game. Powell kept the action going for the Rangers in the fifth inning with an RBI single, scoring Remington. Akey repeated her at bat in the fourth inning with another RBI double to score Powell. Eden Welling showed off the power with a two-run homer to send the Rangers into the sixth inning with a 9-2 lead.
 




 
The Rangers final run came in the sixth and ultimately final inning as Taylor Delgado scored on a wild pitch.
 

 
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
The Rangers kept the momentum going to start the second game. Remington singled and Rutledge scored on a throwing error. Powell reached on a fielder's choice, as Remington and Mia Johnson came around to score making it 3-0.
 


 
Rylee Baetz continued the rally with a two-RBI double to score Powell and Meagan Maza. Welling would later single to score Baetz and give the Rangers a 6-0 lead.
 


 
The Bulldogs responded with two runs of their own in the first to make it a 6-2 game. Powell doubled in the fifth inning to bring Livernash and Remington home to make it an 8-2 final.
