The Parkside softball team traveled to Hammond, Ind. for a mid-week doubleheader against the Purdue Northwest Pride. Despite the Rangers offense getting hot at the beginning of the game, the Pride bats took control and ran away with a pair of victories over the Rangers.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
The Rangers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with
Cassie Rutledge hitting a home run to lead off the ballgame.
Meagan Maza kept the offense rolling in the first inning with an RBI single to left field, scoring
Mia Johnson. The Pride bats responded in force, plating 12 runs in the bottom of the first, as well as three more runs in the second to build up a 15-2 lead.

The Rangers found the scoreboard again in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Johnson to score Rutledge.
Haley Remington then singled to center field to bring home
Taylor Shaw.
Alex Wooten singled to left field to bring home Johnson, as the Rangers would cut the deficit to ten runs before the game ended in five innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
The Pride kept the momentum rolling into the second game, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning and two more runs in the second to take a 4-0 lead. The Rangers found the scoreboard in the fourth inning, with Wooten scoring on an error to cut the deficit to three. The Pride responded in the bottom of the fourth with a crooked five runs to jump out to a 9-1 lead. Johnson saved the Rangers from being run-ruled in the fifth with a two-run home run to make the final score 9-3.
