Rangers Close Road Swing With Losses at GVSU

ALLENDALE, Mich. ---  The Parkside baseball team closed out a long nine-game road swing on Sunday afternoon playing two GLIAC contests at Grand Valley State University. Parkside scored first in the opening game of the day, but Grand Valley was able to answer, scoring seven runs over the final four innings to take game one 7-2. A four-run third inning gave the host Lakers an early lead in game two that they would not relinquish, downing Parkside 8-3.

GAME ONE
Parkside scored first in the seven-inning game when Ryan Brouch launched his first homer of the season over the left field fence.

GVSU tied the game in the third on a single to left center. They then took the lead on a Guciardo homer to left in the fourth. The Lakers added three more in the fifth and one in the sixth to build up a 7-2 lead.

Angel Rades, Brouch, and Patrick Connolly all reached base twice in the opener, with Rades and Brouch scoring runs.

GAME TWO
Parkside started game two with a bang when Emanuel Andujar Ferreira drove a homer over the right-field fence. GVSU answered in the bottom of the third, plating four runs on six hits to take a 4-1 lead.

The Rangers worked back within one in the top of the fifth, scoring one on an RBI groundout by Rades and another on a Brouch sac fly to right.

The Lakers were able to extend their lead again in the fifth, scoring on a bases loaded walk. They then added on three insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Rangers were unable to rally over their final two at-bats, falling by a final score of 8-3.

Rades reached base three times in game two, going 1-3 with two walks. Noah Tyrrell had two hits in game two, including a double.
