Wayne State 12, Parkside 4 (F/6)
The Parkside softball team traveled to Detroit, Mich. on Saturday, April 15 for a doubleheader against the Wayne State Warriors. The Rangers found success on the offensive end early in the first game of the day and held on to earn a victory in the opener. Despite the offense getting off to a hot start in the finale, the Warriors offense rolled past the Rangers to earn the series split.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
The Rangers got on the board in the first inning with an RBI double from
Alex Wooten, scoring
Megan Medlin to take a 1-0 lead.
Cassie Rutledge hit a single in the top of the second to score
Jadynn Powell on the play. Powell would later hit a single in the third inning to score Wooten and
Haley Remington and give the Rangers a 4-0 lead.

The Warriors got a pair of runs on a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a ground out in the sixth to make it a 4-2 game.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
The Rangers kept the momentum rolling into game two, scoring three runs in the first inning. The first run came off the bat of Remington, who hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Rutledge. The next run came on a single to left field from Wooten, scoring Medlin on the play. Powell would bring in the third run of the inning with an infield single back to the pitcher. All three runs were unearned.

The Rangers would add one more in the third with a single from
Meagan Maza to bring home Remington. In the bottom of the third, the Warriors offense came alive and went on a rally. Six runners came in to score, giving the Warriors a 6-4 lead.

The Warriors would add a pair of runs in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth to make it an 11-4 ball game. An RBI double would plate the 12
th run of the game for the Warriors and force the run rule in the sixth inning.
