Softball Swept by Saginaw Valley State

The Parkside softball team traveled to University Center, Mich. for a GLIAC doubleheader against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals. The Cardinals took control of the momentum early and cruised past the Rangers to earn the season sweep over the Green and White.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
The Cardinals got things rolling with a five-run second inning. Another three runs in the third and three runs in the fourth would give the Cardinals an 11 run lead and force the run rule in the fifth inning.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
The Rangers got on the scoreboard early in the finale, with Alex Wooten hitting an RBI single to score Mia Johnson and Cassie Rutledge to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead. A Saginaw Valley home run in the second would cut the lead to 2-1. The Rangers answered back in the top half of the fourth, with Kiley Akey hitting a double to center field to score Jadynn Powell. The Rangers 3-1 lead would not last long, as the Cardinals would score three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-3 lead. The Cardinals would then add three more runs in the fifth and come away with a 7-3 victory.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE RANGERS
