HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first round of play on Friday morning, the Rangers maintained a team score relative to the middle of the leaderboard, but a costly eight on hole seven for freshman Andrew Conrad meant the Rangers would finish the first round in eighth place. In the first round, the Rangers were lead by senior Steven Sanicki who shot an even-par 71. Close behind was junior Garrett Olson with a one-over 72. Freshmen Peter Blazevic and Andrew Conrad shot a pair pf 74's to round out the team scoring in round one. Senior Danny Sanicki shot a 78 in the first round.
But the start of the second round was a whole new story for the Rangers as they quickly jumped four spots to fourth place. Thanks to 15 birdies as a team, and an eagle from Danny Sanicki, the Rangers were just inside the cut line to make it to the medal match play on Saturday with nine holes left to play.
In the final nine holes, the Rangers could not continue their push up the leaderboard, as they finished six-over par in the final four holes of the tournament. The Rangers still managed to gain three spots on the leaderboard to finish in fifth place with a team score of 574, a new school record for a 36-hole team total. Danny Sanicki and Blazevic lead the way in the final round, each posting one-under 70's. Danny finished tied for 33rd while Blazevic finished in a tie for 14th on the tournament. Conrad improved with an even-par 71 to finish in a tie for 22nd. Steven Sanicki rounded out his Parkside career with a one-over 72 and finished tied for 14th, the best finisher for the Rangers in the tournament.
