Maryville 8, Parkside 2
Maryville 5, Parkside 3
The Parkside softball team opened their weekend road trip with a doubleheader against the Maryville Saints. The Rangers offense struggled to get anything going in the first game, and wasted a solid starting pitching performance as they were shutout by the Saints. The second game featured a strong defensive battle for most of the game, before a late offensive surge lifted the Rangers to victory.

GAME 1
The Saints wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with two runs coming around to score in the bottom of the first inning. A sacrifice fly in the second inning would bring one more run to the plate, giving Maryville a 3-0 lead. The Saints would add three more runs in the third inning, increasing their lead to six runs.
Â
The Rangers would finally get on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning, as
Mia Johnson would come in to score on a wild pitch. Meagan Medlin would then hit a two out single to left field, scoring
Brenna Konstanty to bring the Rangers back within four runs. The Rangers would end the fourth down 6-2.
Â
The Rangers offense had something brewing to start the sixth inning, as
Kiley Akey doubled to left center and Medlin reached first safely on an error. However, Maryville pitcher Emily Senjan found a way to get three straight outs and end the inning without allowing a run to score.
Â
The Saints would add on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, before shutting the Rangers down in the seventh inning to finish off an 8-2 win.

GAME 2
The latter half of the doubleheader started in a very similar way, as the Saints would jump out to an early 3-0 lead in the first two innings.
Â
The Rangers would find the scoreboard in the third inning, as
Rylee Baetz hit her first homerun of the season, scoring Johnson on the play to make it a 3-2 ballgame.
Â
The Saints would add one more run in the fourth and one in the fifth to extend their lead to 5-2. The Rangers would get one back in the seventh, as
