Rangers Split Opening Day Of Series At Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY — The Parkside Rangers hit the road on Saturday afternoon, starting a four-game series with the Rockhurst Hawks. Rockhurst was able to score a late unearned run to take game one 4-3. The bats then came alive for the Rangers, leading to a 9-4 victory in game two. 
 
GAME ONE
Caden Bronkhorst and Kaleb Schulist combined to allow just three earned runs in the game one seven-inning loss. Bronkhorst worked five innings, allowing two runs on three hits. Schulist allowed one earned run on two hits, taking the loss.
 
Rockhurst struck first, manufacturing a run in the bottom of the first. Parkside answered in the top of the fourth. With one out Camden Kearney singled up the middle. He then stole second and came into score one out later on a Pat Connolly single. Max Bruff singled to put two on, it then was Angel Rades who was able to drive a ball down the left field line for a double, scoring two, making it 3-1 Rangers.

 
Rockhurst tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run homer to right. The Hawks then scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh to take game one 4-3.
 
GAME TWO
The bats were alive early in game two. With a runner on and two out Bruff got the Rangers on the board by driving a 0-0 pitch over the right field fence, giving Parkside a 2-0 lead. Rockhurst worked their way back, scoring single runs in the first and second innings.

 
The Rangers then blew the game open in the third. Three walks and a single plated the first run of the inning for Parkside. Then Daniel Llanas ripped a double to left center, clearing the bases and giving Parkside a 6-2 lead. Llanas would finish game two with five RBIs.  

 
Chris Conrad was shut down on the mound over the next two innings, keeping Rockhurst off the board. The Rangers then added on insurance runs in the top of the fifth. With one out and a runner on Andrew Harris doubled to left center. Llanas followed with his second double of the game, scoring two. One out later Ryan Brouch recorded the third double of the inning for Parkside, scoring Llanas and extending the lead to 9-3.
 
Charlie Campbell worked an inning in relief, allowing an unearned run on two hits. Andrew Sumner then shut the door, working two shutout innings while striking out two.
