KENOSHA, Wis.- Parkside Athletics joins the campus community in mourning the loss of former student-athlete Kawsu Samba. Samba, a member of the Parkside men's soccer team from 2012 to 2015, was tragically killed in a shooting that took place in Middleton, Wis. on Monday evening.
Samba was described as a hard-nosed center midfielder by his coaches and teammates during his time at Parkside. He was a soft-spoken, warm-hearted, and a beloved teammate.
"He was a wonderful young man," said Head Coach
Jason Zitzke. "He came to this country from Gambia to live the American dream. He was living it. He was working two jobs to create a better life for his family. According to Issam Ismaili, a Parkside alum who helped bring him to Parkside, he was very active and loved in the Madison community. He played at Parkside from 2012-2015 and graduated in 16. I have received numerous messages from the Parkside Men's Soccer alumni. He made a huge impact on all of us."
