CRESTWOOD, Ill. --- The Parkside baseball team hit the road on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference matchup with the Roosevelt University Lakers. The Rangers used seven pitchers on the day and were able to tally seven runs on ten hits, en route to a 7-2 win.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Five of the seven pitchers had scoreless outings for the Rangers.
- Kaleb Schulist had the most effective outing, going two innings and striking out three.
- Andrew Harris paced the offense, going 3-3 with a walk and two driven in.
- Angel Rades and Jared Heinzen also had multi-hit games for Parkside.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers did the bulk of their offensive damage in the top of the third. Rades singled and Heinzen walked to open the inning. Another walk then loaded the bases for
Daniel Llanas, who was able to serve a line drive into center field, scoring two. A sac fly from Harris then plated the third run of the inning for the Rangers.
Â
Roosevelt was able to get a run back on three hits in the bottom of the third, but Parkside was able to answer with one of their own in the top of the fourth. Rades led off the inning with a single to right, he then moved to second on a bunt and then stole third with one out.
Max Bruff then lifted a deep enough fly ball to right for the sac fly to make it 4-1 Rangers.
Â
The Lakers made it 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh, scoring one run on one hit, but again Parkside was able to counter in the next half inning. With one out
Patrick Connolly doubled to right. A groundout then advanced Connolly to third with two away. After a walk to Rades, Heinzen was able to rip his team-leading fifth extra base hit to right, scoring two.
Â
The Rangers tacked on an insurance run for good measure in the top of the ninth. A walk put a runner on, and Harris was able to rip a double into the gap in left center, scoring
Ryan McGonegle from first. Llanas shut the door on the Lakers in the ninth, securing the 7-2 victory. Â Â
