The Parkside women's basketball team hosted the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals in De Simone Arena on Saturday. Prior to the start of the game, the Rangers recognized

Maddy Harrison, and
Alyssa Nelson in a Senior Day celebration. The Rangers rode the energy of the pregame festivities to take and early lead, which led to a big win to close out the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers got on an offensive tear early, going on an 8-1 run to open the game. The Cardinals tried to surge in the middle of the first quarter, but the Rangers held strong and ended the quarter with a 21-16 lead. Nelson led the Rangers with 8 points in the opening quarter.

A quick three to start the quarter brought the Cardinals back within two points. The Cardinals took a brief 31-30 lead, but a score from Nelson and an inbound steal and a score from
Grace Lomen put the Rangers back on top and gave Parkside the momentum. The Rangers would go into the half with a 43-40 lead. Nelson continued to lead the Rangers with 19 points at the half.

The Rangers controlled the tempo throughout the third quarter, building their lead to 57-51 with a minute to play. Despite a late push from the Cardinals, the Rangers went into the fourth with a 59-53 lead. Nelson continued to dominate with 23 points in the game.

The Rangers held a four-point lead with just over five minutes to play in the game.
Kendal Zeiter drained a pair of free throws to put the Rangers up 65-59. The Rangers increased their lead to ten points and walked away with a win to close out the regular season.

A LOOK AT THE STATS
Nelson dominated in her Senior Day performance, leading the Rangers with 31 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.
Sheridan Flauger ended with 14 points and four rebounds. Lomen ended with 12 points, two rebounds, and two steals. Kaitlyn Zarycki led the Cardinals with 18 points.
