Rangers Pick Up The First Win of the Charbonneau Era, 18-8

BOLIVAR, Mo. --- The Parkside baseball team closed out the opening series on Sunday, taking on the Southwest Baptist Bearcats. The bats were alive all afternoon as the Rangers tallied 18 runs en route to an 18-8 victory.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-   The win is the first for Parkside under the direction of head coach Zac Charbonneau.
-   The 18 runs are the most scored since April 15, 2017, against UIndy.
-   Angel Rades finished with two hits, four runs scored, and five RBIs.
-   Jared Heinzen finished 3-4 with two runs scored and five driven in.
-   Andrew Sumner and Kaleb Schulist each notched scoreless relief appearances.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Parkside got the scoring started in the top of the first. Rades opened the game with a walk and advanced into scoring position on an Emanueal Andujar double to left. Rades came into score on a sac fly from Max Bruff.
 
The Rangers blew the game open in the second. With one out and the bases loaded Rades singled through the right side scoring two. Heinzen followed with a double to right, scoring one more. Andujar kept the party rolling with another double, scoring two. It was then Bruff with the third double in a row, scoring one, making the score 7-0 Rangers.
 
Parkside added on four more in the third. With the bases loaded and no outs, Rades ripped a double to left, scoring two. Heinzen followed with his second double of the day, scoring two more and extending the lead to 11-0 Rangers.
 
The Bearcats got a pair of runs back in the third and the fourth to pull back within 11-4. Parkside answered, picking up three runs on a hit and two errors in the fifth, which extended the lead to 14-4.
 
Southwest Baptist got within 14-8, but the Rangers were able to pick up four runs in the seventh, including two on a Heinzen single to center, to close out the 18-8 win.
 
The Rangers will return to action on Wednesday, March 1st when they head to Crestwood, Illinois to take on Roosevelt University. First pitch is set for 3:00pm. Links to coverage can be found at ParksideRangers.com/coverage.
