Parkside Falls to No. 14 Ferris State in OT Thriller

Kenosha, Wis. - In a back-and-forth battle at De Simone Arena, it took overtime to decide a winner between Parkside and No. 14 Ferris State University. Despite a second-half comeback, Parkside was taken down by a final score of 77-73.

Inside the box score:
    -Josiah Palmer played 40 minutes, tallying 19 points with four rebounds and six assists
    -Ethan Ivan had one of his most effective games yet, registering 13 points on 3-3 shooting from beyond the arc
    -Parkside shot 51% as a team and erased a 12-point deficit in the second half

Early in the opening half, it was Ferris State who set the tone. They jumped out to an early lead and hung onto it for a majority of the half. Early shots from Ethan Ivan and Rokas Castillo helped Parkside hang on and remain in striking distance. With four minutes left in the half, Nick Brown connected on a three-pointer that gave Parkside their first lead of the night.
 

In the second half, Ferris State put their foot on the gas and led by as much as 12. After only five points in the first half, Parkside's Josiah Palmer found his stroke. Palmer hit numerous key shots down the stretch.
 

Colin O'Rourke had a monster second half, bringing Parkside even closer with a big three-pointer.
 

With 1 minute and 22 seconds left in the game, Josiah Palmer hit his biggest three yet to tie the game. 
 

Parkside fell behind again at the end of the second half, but Ethan Ivan was clutch and hit a game-tying triple to send the game into overtime.
 

Parkside eventually lost in the overtime period after an unbelievable battle at De Simone Arena. They were outscored 20-8 in second chance opportunities, which proved to be the deciding factor. Parkside drops their overall record to 5-4, and their GLIAC record to 1-1. The team will take several days off before returning to action on December 18th against Clarke University at home.
